Pomfret wrapped in spices tight in banana leaf not only steams the fish but also adds an amazing taste and aroma from the leaf.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE FISH
Black Pomfret | 500 gm |
Shallot (chopped) | 2 cups |
Garlic (chopped) | 2 tbsp |
Ginger (chopped) | 1 ½ tbsp |
Green Chilli (chopped) | 6 |
Tomato | 2 |
Red Chilli Powder | 2 tsp |
Turmeric powder | 1 tsp |
Coriander powder | 2 tsp |
Pepper powder | 2 tsp |
Coconut milk | 1 cup |
Salt | To taste |
Water | As required |
Curry leaves | As required |

HOW TO PREPARE
- Defrost the fish as per instruction.
- Marinate the fish using 1 tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
- Pour coconut oil in the pan and fry the fish for 5 minutes, flipping both sides.
- Remove the fish and on the same pan add chopped ginger and garlic and sauté it.
- Add shallots and green chillies and fry for 3 minutes.
- Make a paste with chilli powder, coriander powder, pepper powder with water and add this to the shallots and sauté till the raw smell goes.
- When fish is cooked add ½ Tbsp of coconut oil and a pinch of fenugreek powder and curry leaves.
- Add tomatoes to it and sauté till it is well cooked.
- Finally,Take a banana leaf or aluminium foil and put half gravy on it.
- Now place the fish and wrap it. Tie it.
- Take a non stick pan and heat it.
- Place the wrapped fish and cook both sides covering with a lid and flipping both sides for 20 minutes.
TIP:
Serve it with rice.
