INGREDIENTS FOR THE FISH

Anchovy500 gm
Gambooge (kadampuli)3 pieces (soak it in water)
Coconut grated2 cups
Shallots (chopped)1 cup
Green chilli5
Ginger2 inch piece
Garlic10 cloves
Pepper¾ tsp
Turmeric powder1 tsp
Red chilli powder½ tsp
Curry leavesFew
Mustard seedsAs required
SaltTo taste

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Defrost the fish as per instructions and wash.
  • Crush ginger, garlic, shallots and green chillies together.
  • Mix coconut with turmeric powder and chilli powder and add this mixture to the crushed onion mixture with hand and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  • Upon crackling add curry leaves, grinded ingredients and gambooge and cook for 2 minutes..
  • Add cleaned anchovies, 2 cup water and salt to taste..
  • Cover the pan and cook till the water dries off.
  • Remove the lid and simmer for some more time. Serve warm.

TIP: 

Good with rice.
