RECIPE DESCRIPTION:

Goan prawns curry is a traditional goan dish made with prawns cooked in coconut milk with spark of spices.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE FISH

Shrimp500 gm
Oil4 tbsp
Medium Onion2 Sliced
Chilli Powder2 tsp
Green Chillies3 cut into strips
Coconut milk100 ml
Tamarind pulp1 tbsp
For curry paste.
Coconut Grated100 gm
Red dry chilli5
Corriander Seeds2 Sliced
Chilli Powder4 tsp
Cumin seeds2 ½ tsp
Turmeric½ tsp
Ginger2 cm piece grated
Garlic crushed4
Pepper corn1 tsp

Required Fish

RecommendedShrimp Peeled & Deveined
Alternate 1Seer Fish Pieces 500 gram

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Defrost as per instruction and wash.
  • Place all the ingredients for the curry paste in a blender and blend well adding enough water to make a thick paste.
  • Heat oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium heat and cook the onion till golden brown.
  • Add curry paste and chilli powder and cook. Stir for 2 minutes.
  • Add green chilli and stir.
  • Add enough water to thin the mixture to a sauce consistency.
  • Add coconut milk and prawns and simmer for 5 mins.
  • Add the tamarind then season and cook for further 2 minutes. Serve hot.

TIP: 

Good with steamed basmati rice and pappadams
