RECIPE DESCRIPTION:

Karimeen Pollichathu is one of the traditional delicacy of Kerala that majority people prefer.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE FISH

TO BE MADE INTO PASTE.
Turmeric½ tsp
Chilli Powder1 tbsp
Pepper Powder½ tsp
Small Onion3
Garlic3 Flakes
SaltAs required
FOR GRAVY.
Coconut Oil2 tbsp
Onion Sliced1½ Cup
Green Chilli3 Cut Round
Ginger1 Inch Piece Chopped
Garlic Chopped6 Flakes
Curry LeavesAs Needed
Tomato Chopped1 Cup
Thick Coconut Milk2 tbsp

Alternate 2White Pomfret Cleaned Medium 500 gram

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Defrost the fish as per instruction and wash.
  • From the masala paste, keep aside 1 tbsp and use the rest to marinate fish and keep for 30 mins.
  • Fry the fish in a non-stick pan for 2 mins on both side an keep aside.
  • In the same pan toss onions, green chillies, ginger, garlic and curry leaves for sometime.
  • To it add the masala paste which is kept aside and little water.Keep it on fire till oil comes out.
  • Then add tomato and cook till it becomes a gravy.Add coconut milk. Keep aside.
  • In the same pan put two banana leaves, spread it with oil.
  • Put a layer of masala, Keep the fish on top and put the rest of masala over the fish.
  • Close the banana leaf and cook for 5 mins both sides each on low flame till its done with lid on.

TIP: 

Good with rice appam and bread
