Prawns- large | ½ kg |
Coriander powder | 2 tsp |
Chilli powder | ½ tsp |
Turmeric powder | ¼ tsp |
Pepper powder | ¼ tsp |
Shallots | 4 |
Vegetable oil | ¼ cup |
Mustard seeds | 1 tsp |
Fenugreek seeds | ⅛ tsp |
Onion sliced | 1 cup |
Ginger sliced | 1 tsp |
Garlic cloves | 12 |
Green Chilli | 3 half slit |
Curry leaves | A few |
Kokkum | 2 pieces, washed and soaked in water |
Thin coconut milk | 2 cups |
Thick coconut milk | ½ cup |

HOW TO PREPARE
- Defrost prawns as per instruction and wash.
- Grind turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, shallots, vegetable oil, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Add Onions, ginger sliced, garlic cloves, green chillies, curry leaves and sauté till onion turns golden brown in colour.
- Now add the grinded masala to it and sauté in low heat till aroma rises.
- Add Kokkum and fry again.
- Add thin coconut milk and simmer for some time.
- Now add prawns and salt and cook in low heat till the gravy thickens.
- Add thick coconut milk and heat for few minutes. Remove from heat and serve hot.
TIP:
Good with chapatti, bread or appam.
