INGREDIENTS FOR THE FISH

Prawns- large½ kg
Coriander powder2 tsp
Chilli powder½ tsp
Turmeric powder¼ tsp
Pepper powder¼ tsp
Shallots4
Vegetable oil¼ cup
Mustard seeds1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds⅛ tsp
Onion sliced1 cup
Ginger sliced1 tsp
Garlic cloves12
Green Chilli3 half slit
Curry leavesA few
Kokkum2 pieces, washed and soaked in water
Thin coconut milk2 cups
Thick coconut milk½ cup

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Defrost prawns as per instruction and wash.
  • Grind turmeric powder, chilli powder, pepper powder, shallots, vegetable oil, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds and keep it aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add Onions, ginger sliced, garlic cloves, green chillies, curry leaves and sauté till onion turns golden brown in colour.
  • Now add the grinded masala to it and sauté in low heat till aroma rises.
  • Add Kokkum and fry again.
  • Add thin coconut milk and simmer for some time.
  • Now add prawns and salt and cook in low heat till the gravy thickens.
  • Add thick coconut milk and heat for few minutes. Remove from heat and serve hot.

TIP: 

Good with chapatti, bread or appam.
